Gamal Batwel Nyaragi

Gamal is a South Sudanese educationalist and management expert with over 25 years’ experience in South Sudan’s education sector. Gamal is a Senior Advisor to the EU IMPACT programme, liaising with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI) in support of the Education Transfers Monitoring Committee (ETMC).

He previously served as Regional Adviser on the Girls’ Education South Sudan (GESS) project, supporting implementation of attendance monitoring, capitation grants and cash transfers.

Gamal has worked for us since 2013. Prior to that, Gamal served for a long period as Deputy Country Representative and Education Project Manager for Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg in South Sudan. Over the course of his career, Gamal has worked in a number of highly responsible roles for organisations such as International Aid Sweden (IAS), Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) and American Institute of Research (AIS).

Gamal has worked in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda.

Gamal received an M.Ed. in Science Education from Manchester University, UK, in 1999. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Education in Science (mathematics and physics) from Juba University, South Sudan.
