What we did:
We have engaged by DFID to undertake a study to improve the understanding of the current state of hospitals’ funding flows and financial management in the DRC. This involves document reviews and the design of a survey. We will undertake interviews at 15 – 20 hospitals across five provinces. During these interviews, we will explore and identify potential barriers to hospitals to access government funding. We will create a synthesis of findings and develop a set of systematic recommendation, with a supporting action plan for how these blockages can be overcome. The expectation of the study is that we will be able to provide insights that can help towards the development of long-term systemic structures whereby government funding can effectively flow to health service delivery units across the DRC.
